RUSTIC AND BOHO WEDDING THEME
The rustic wedding theme started blooming back a few years ago. At the time, many wedding experts and decorators found it hard to envision that mix of elements: the elegant and the rustic, the lace and the twine. This year the rustic theme diversified in elegant rustic, or botanical boho styles.
RUSTIC WEDDING TRENDS
A year after, burlap and lace became the absolute star of the rustic wedding themes. You could see them featured in invitations, chair sashes, signs, table runners, etc. Today the trend is still incredibly popular (yet not a novelty anymore) and it has extended beyond weddings, to bridal showers, baptisms, birthdays and corporate functions. The rustic wedding theme is a winner, and can offer a luxury and a down-to earth feel, all in one.
Rustic weddings, sometimes labelled 'shabby chic' or "boho" are becoming more trendy, even for luxury weddings. We are seeing more couples each year aiming for a beautiful, elegant but relaxed wedding day celebration.
A rustic wedding can be both down to earth, shabby and rugged as well as chic, elegant and sophisticated, as long as it reflects who you and your groom are. While some would say that lace, pearls and bling do not belong at a rustic wedding, it really is up to you. If used sparingly, they can add the chic to the shabby.

RUSTIC OR BOHO WEDDING INVITATIONS
Rustic or boho invitations may feature recycled or handmade papers, hessian or burlap, raffia or twine, corrugated board, typewriter or handwriting fonts and may be dressed up with ribbons or string, maybe add some pearls for a chic touch. Originally, burlap and lace is the most popular wedding invitation trend for rustic, shabby chic and bohemian weddings. Country lace for a cozy look or French lace with beads for an elegant glam rustic celebration.
In the last couple of years, simple invitations with floral designs have slowly replaced the crafted rustic trends.

VENUE LOCATION FOR RUSTIC WEDDINGS
Many locations are suitable for a rustic or boho wedding. Usually the most suitable venues are those with an outdoors element, where nature is close and guests could enjoy some of the reception time in there. Some of these places include a mountain top, a farm, barnyard, a vineyard, a lake, the city park or garden, the beach, backyard, national park, or a resort. If you prefer to have your wedding inside in case the weather changes, try inside a lodge located in the hills, a winery or brewery, or a clubhouse. Rustic weddings can be celebrated almost anywhere you want them because it has a great deal to do with the décor.
RUSTIC WEDDING DECOR IDEAS
Rustic weddings held outside can also be much less expensive because you can use the beauty of the surrounds as part of your decor.
You can set up candles to light the way down the aisle and string white fairy lights up in the trees for an evening wedding or reception. Rustic weddings can take on many themes, shapes and sizes depending on what you want and what your budget will allow, the possibilities are endless. You can add plenty of rustic chic to your wedding, with chairs and tables draped with hessian table runners. Other rustic theme ideas: -Pick fresh flowers from the surrounding woods or fields and use pine cones to hold them. -Decorate mason jars with strips of hessian, twine or handmade paper. Fill those same jars with honey, jams or jellies to give as favours. Your guests should be able to use the jars as cups once they eat their content. -Use pine bark or straw laid out as an aisle. -Bring in the dried flower trends and include an arch with romantic dried flowers and pampas. -Pottery filled with eucalyptus, cedar or other local trees as table centrepieces. -For a more rustic feel: Cover hay bales with blankets, tablecloths or clean hessian to use as informal seating. outside |
BOHO bridal attire
When I think of a bohemian or rustic dress, I think of a bride walking down the aisle, through a path in the woods, wearing a comfortable, free spirit gown style. White and ethereal. A bridal gown that is sophisticated and simple at the same time, made of fresh fabrics, translucent patches of delicate lace marking the brides figure and loose towards the end of the dress. I also love the feel of bohemian hair ornaments, with dried flowers and twigs. Browse for inspiration, Pinterest is my fav platform to find inspirations of beautiful boho brides carrying a lovely bouquet of wild flowers and wrapped with a piece of hessian or raffia.
BOHO RUSTIC FAVORS AND BOMBONIERE
Once the wedding and reception are coming to an end, you can give away as wedding favors, jars filled with jams, honey, fruit or whatever you like. Alternatively, I love the idea of giving small plants such as succulents, which make lovely keepsakes that will hopefully last longer than the traditional favors. Candles are also special and romantic and look stunning wrapped in cinnamon sticks and twine.
Many couples opt for having the favors on the table from the beginning, next to their menu or napkin, saving themselves to remember later to handle those individually.
